The filing deadline for resolutions is in order to permit time for required review by the Convention Resolutions Committee and/or the Committee on Constitution and Canons. This deadline is July 25, 2015. Resolutions are required to be submitted on the forms prescribed and available in the download found above. Resolutions proposing amendments to the Constitution or Canons are required to be written in “legislative format”, with the proposed new text underlined and deleted text being stricken through. Resolutions are referred when received to the Resolutions Committee, and (if appropriate) to the Committee on Constitution and Canons for review and editing if necessary to achieve clarity and consistency with the Constitutions and Canons of The Episcopal Church and of the Diocese of Utah. The sponsor(s) of any resolution filed timely but not in proper form, or inconsistent with the Constitutions or Canons, will be notified by the reviewing committee promptly (at least thirty (30) days prior to the opening of Convention), in order to rectify the inconsistency or improper form issue if possible. Once reviewed the respective resolution will be posted to the Convention website:
Per Rule VI.6.0, resolutions received after the filing deadline will be referred to the Diocesan Council unless placed on the Calendar of Convention by a two-thirds majority vote of the Convention. Stephen F. Hutchinson, Chancellor and General Counsel
